Short version: Your voice is converted to text by Apple's built-in Speech Recognition. Only that text — never audio — is sent to our AI proxy to be sorted into tasks, notes and reminders. Your captures live only on your device. We don't sell your data, show ads, or build profiles.
Who We Are
ARKETA is operated by an independent individual developer based in Cyprus (European Union). For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, this developer is the "data controller." Contact: hello@arketa-app.com.
Definitions
"App" / "Service" — the ARKETA mobile application.
"Capture" — a task, idea, reminder, note, or event you create in the app.
"Transcript" — the text produced from your voice by Apple's Speech Recognition.
"AI Proxy" — our Cloudflare Workers service that forwards text to AI models for classification.
"Anonymous ID" — a random identifier (UUID) generated on first launch, not linked to your identity.
"Personal Data" — any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
1. What We Collect
ARKETA collects the minimum data needed to operate:
Voice input — your speech is transcribed by Apple's built-in Speech Recognition. Depending on your device and selected language, Apple may perform this on-device or using Apple's servers (see Apple's privacy policy linked below). ARKETA never receives, records, or stores your audio — we only receive the resulting text transcript, which is then sent to our AI Proxy for classification.
Text input — text you type is sent to our AI Proxy for classification, then immediately discarded. Text is never stored on our servers.
Anonymous user ID — a random UUID generated on first launch to enforce per-user fair-use limits. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identity.
Daily usage counters — counts of daily AI requests per call type, stored ephemerally in Cloudflare's edge network, linked only to your anonymous ID. Used solely to enforce fair-use limits. Reset every 24 hours.
Your captures — tasks, ideas, reminders, notes, and events are stored only on your device in a local SQLite database. We never see them, never sync them, never touch them.
We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA), do not track you across apps or websites, and do not run advertising networks.
2. How We Use Your Data & Legal Basis
Text transcripts are forwarded through our Cloudflare Workers proxy to OpenRouter, which routes requests to AI models (primarily Google Gemini) for classification. Your text is processed to return structured results and is not retained by us beyond the request.
Your anonymous ID and daily counters are used solely to enforce fair-use limits and protect the service from abuse.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than operating the app.
Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): we process your text to perform the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b), performance of a contract) and to keep the service secure and sustainable (Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interests).
3. Third-Party Services
Apple Speech Recognition — converts your voice to text. Audio is handled by Apple, not by ARKETA, and may be processed on-device or on Apple's servers. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Cloudflare Workers — our secure proxy layer that routes AI requests and stores ephemeral daily counters. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
OpenRouter — AI routing layer that forwards text to AI models. See openrouter.ai/privacy.
Text & transcripts sent for classification: processed in real time and not retained by us after the response is returned.
Daily usage counters: stored in Cloudflare's edge network and automatically expire after 24 hours.
Anonymous ID: retained while you use the app, to enforce fair-use limits; removed on request (see Your Rights).
Your captures: kept on your device for as long as you keep them; deleted permanently when you delete them or uninstall the app.
5. Data Storage & Security
All API calls use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.
Your captures are stored locally on your device and protected by iOS Data Protection.
Our proxy never logs the content of your text inputs beyond what is required to process the request.
Because captures are stored only on your device, we cannot recover them if your device is lost or the app is uninstalled. We do not provide cloud backup or sync.
6. Notifications
If you grant notification permissions, ARKETA schedules local notifications for your reminders and events. These are processed entirely on-device. No notification data is sent to our servers.
7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because we don't store the content of your captures and use only a random anonymous ID, most personal-data rights are satisfied by design. Where applicable, you have the right to:
Access / portability — your captures already live on your device and are fully yours.
Erasure — delete all local data by uninstalling the app. To remove your anonymous server record (usage counters), email us and we will respond within one month.
Object / restrict / withdraw consent — revoke microphone or speech permission at any time in iOS Settings → ARKETA.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Complaint: EU/EEA users may lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
8. International Transfers
ARKETA is available worldwide. Our service providers (listed above) may process data on servers outside your country, including outside the EU. These providers maintain their own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) as described in their privacy policies.
9. Children
ARKETA is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA, where applicable). If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be noted in the app release notes and reflected in the "Last updated" date and version above.
